St. Antonius Hospital leads the way with leaving the valuable umbilical cord intact after birth
St. Antonius Hospital in The Netherlands is the first level 2 hospital worldwide to have implemented the Concord Birth Flow & Trolley. We are extremely proud that Physiological-Based Cord Clamping is part of their vision; a better start for each baby.
Mirjam Kleinhout, Neonatologist and co-initiator, explains: "It is very nice to support a child in this way during birth. We are around the mother with the whole team, parents can even help with stimulation. The child makes a much calmer transition from inside to outside the womb, close to the parents”.
“We have come to appreciate the umbilical cord more again."
